For most people, the job search is not only not fun, but it's also straight up torture. The job hunt can really put a person's strength of character to the test, as it is often characterized by a lot of effort and little reward. For this reason, my jobseekers are willing to do anything possible to speed up the job search process.
If you're about to embark on a job search, of if you're currently in the midst of one, you may be wondering how you can receive a job offer at an engineering company as soon as possible—preferably tomorrow. While it is unrealistic to think that you can get that elusive offer within a day, you may not be far from hearing those long-awaited words: "You're hired." There are a few things you can do to encourage those words along:
• Intern: If you're still in college or a recent college graduate, don't be too prideful to take on an internship. Many engineering internships pay, and, according to Forbes, more employers value experience over education.
• Engineer the Perfect Resume: Don't be afraid to ask for help, refer to resume samples for guidance, and, if necessary, use an online resume builder.
• Practice, Practice, Practice: When you do land that interview, practice your answers to common and industry-specific questions. Prepare four to six questions of your own to ask at the interview as well.
Ultimately, you control your future. Keep the above tips in mind to speed up the job search process and receive the job offer for which you've been working.
