Avoid being too vague when answering a question about how you can contribute, but don't spend too much time on your answer, either. Avoid cliché phrases like "good communication" and focus on being more specific. On the other hand, don't spend time listing 10 of your biggest accomplishments if only one or two of them directly relate to the job position you are interviewing for. Above all else, don't be arrogant. You can state facts but there is no need to boast. No matter what you say when answering this question, be sure to smile. Friendliness goes a long way in an interview.

For example, if you are applying to be a social media manager, you will contribute to the company by writing and scheduling social media posts across all social platforms using a tool like Sprout Social. Talk about this, and talk about how you’d go the extra mile by making sure the social media posts you create are as informative and attention-getting as possible! Then, share details about how you’ve done social media successfully at other companies. If you have created an award-winning social media campaign for another company, talk about it, and talk about how you’d stride to do the same for the company you’re interviewing with.
At the end of the day, you can contribute to the company in many different ways. But, to be effective, you need to find out what the company is looking for and customize your answer to their needs. Studying the job description and knowing the company’s mission and values will give you the best ideas about what the company is looking for. And again, remember to practice a response to this question in advance of the interview!
