It it my pleasure to announce that you’ve been chosen the 2013 Volunteer of the Year in Elyria County. Your hours of work at the Food Bank stocking the shelves and getting the word out about the need to help our neighbors would probably be enough for recognition. But you didn’t stop there.
As the Story Time Lady at the County Library your special touch with the children as they huddle in a circle to hear you read about The Cat in the Hat or Goodnight Moon has left those children with a love of reading a love of a good story and certainly a love of you. But you didn’t stop there.
You volunteer at the Lorain Memorial Hospital doing whatever needs to be done including holding innocent babies born with addictions. The first thing they experience in their new lives is the pain of withdrawal. The second thing is the loving touch and firm embrace of a woman like you.
You and other worthy award recipients will be honored at a luncheon next month. I’ll be sending the details soon but for now I simply would like to say congratulations! We’re lucky to have you as part of our community.
