After a job interview, the hiring manager will fill out some kind of job interview assessment in order to have all the relevant information about the applicant in any easy to digest manner. This assessment is used by the interviewer in to mark down thoughts and opinions about each and every candidate so that he or she can refer back to it later in the day and remember what each interviewee brought to the table. It can be incredibly useful for remembering which candidate was which, especially if an interviewer has spoken with numerous people throughout the day.
Formatting the Job Interview Assessment
Since you will be reviewing each assessment when trying to come up with a decision, you should make all the information easy to comprehend. A simple list format is recommended so that you can see what every applicant is offering to the company. Sections of the assessment should be dedicated to previous job experience, unique skills, education, overall personality and anything else that could help in reaching a decision.
Particular attention should be paid to the needs of the company. For example, if a candidate is bilingual but that is a trait that is not really necessary to the position being filled, then you can mark it down as not being relevant. There should also be a section of the assessment page dedicated to your own private thoughts about the applicant. Maybe there was something about a certain candidate that you liked even though it was not necessarily listed on the job description.
Sample Job Interview Assessment
Your company may already have assessment forms with all the information you need to fill out, or you may just need to write down your thoughts on a piece of paper. Either way, you should fill out each assessment directly after each interview so that each candidate is fresh in your mind, and you can adequately talk about the pros and cons of each one. Bilingual. Useful but the position will not really call for it. Could potentially come in handy if they advance through the company.
Familiar with various phone systems. YES. Gained experience at last job but it was at a smaller company than this one. May need some training to learn how to use our phone system, which has many more lines.
Personable: YES. Spoke with front desk who said he was very nice and personable. Very friendly. Dressed professionally. Great handshake and was able to maintain eye contact throughout interview.
Drives own vehicle: YES.
He answered every question perfectly. None of the answers were too long or too short. He backed up his skills and experiences with stories from past jobs. He has the perfect amount of experience for this job. He also has a great personality that would mesh well with the other employees here. I cannot foresee any immediate problems with bringing him on and seeing where he goes.
He did say he has had interviews with other companies but that this position was his top choice. Could just be a tactic on his part, but I was thoroughly impressed with his qualifications and would be willing to hire him on.
