Dear Dr. Lawrence,
I am interested in applying for the role of Artist in Residence as advertised in the university’s magazine. I hold a BA with honors in Fine Arts and have twelve years of experience running my own art studio and shop.
Currently I run my own art studio and small shop in downtown Prenton where I am working on a series of paintings highlighting the conflict between the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. My paintings and drawings have appeared in dozens of local galleries as well as several galleries across the country and my artwork is currently featured on a series of journals and notebooks for sale in Barnes and Noble.
I believe that I am an ideal candidate for the Artist in Residence because I have a unique perspective on life and art that is influenced and inspired by passion and conflict. My artwork evokes emotions that have been drawn from my experiences traveling the globe and I feel that my paintings and drawings offer something important to the art world that no one else can offer. I believe that exposure to and interaction with my art would be a great opportunity to your students and to the surrounding community.
As a professional artist with a proven track record I believe I am perfect for the role of Artist in Residence. I can talk any time and am readily available by E-mail or phone. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
