Additional Information

I worked at a summer camp since I was 12, working with people of all ages with special needs. This is a week long christian based camp with two sessions. The workers, me, come in on Sunday afternoon and begin to set up the camp. Putting decorations up, prepping the dorms, meal planning etc. The first round of campers arrive first thing Monday morning and throughout their stay we sing songs, do crafts, dance and learn about what God is doing in our lives. We then hold a ceremony Wednesday afternoon where parents are allowed to attend to see everything we have done with their child over the past few days. Wednesday night is a night for all the volunteers to get a break before it starts all back up again Thursday morning to Saturday afternoon. This is a great experience I look forward to every year, however it does come with many responsibilities. Each camper is completely different in every way from their personalities to their needs. It is my job as a worker, if needed, to feed them, bathe them, help them if they are in a wheelchair but also to be their best friend while they are at camp. This time at camp has taught me responsibilities, empathy, and honestly to be grateful for what I do have.
