This was a side paying caregiving job something i did to help my auntie take care of my great grandfather who had Alzheimer's & was slowly loosing ability to take care of himself throughout daily task. I quickly learned it was more than just a job to take care of a loved one who was coming of age. I enjoyed spending much time assisting my great grandfather in small task like going to the restroom and making sure he kept good hygiene. When time comes your grateful to even get a laugh or smile out of just dedicating a conversation to our elders. It wasn't easy watching him slowly not recognize us anymore but it felt good knowing we were making sure he was comfortable and well cared of. Being in the position to take care a loved one myself and it being as hard as it was to say goodbye, The experience has made me want to lean my work skill, experiences, from dealing with customers in restaurants to more towards assisting our elders.. as I will remember to have the consideration I had a loved one in the same situation.
