What can be accomplished with that spend level? How many target audiences can we reach cost effectively? Which media mix will optimally reach our target audiences? Where do mail, email, web, social media, video, banner ads, PR, traditional advertising fit in the mix? How do we stage them, repeat them based on data? Every campaign developed has involved this kind of planning.
  • Research—when worked in marketing for BlueCross and Blue Shield Associations, worked with Boston Research Group to develop a new low cost insurance offering that would appeal to young, healthy subscribers.
  • Promotion—forr Amtrak, worked on DisneyWorld Promotion. Also for Amtrak worked on Happy Meal. Promotions to encourage family ridership; and a Metroliner Promotion with a free business magazine subscription. Have experience with both passenger and trade promotions with Delta Airlines (NWA),. While at Sezmi (early competitor in the Comcast space), ran promotions to encourage content rental and purchase.
  • Relationship management—At PacBell, created first relationship management program for small and medium business; and later or consumer. The SMB direct mail got a 405 return. Later, worked with Xerox's Fax division to create a relationship management program with fax machine customers. Worked with Symantec Sales team (now part of Broadcom) to better undestand the buying process of Javafrom the target company's perspective. Understanding the "customer journey" is should affect the first point of customer contact through the customer continuing to feel good about havin done business with a company.
