DOG TRAINER
Professional Summary
Work History
Crouse Canine - Dog TrainerWatseka , IL04/2019 - Current

Being a dog trainer has created me into an overall different person. Working with the dogs is actually the easiest part of my duties. While dogs behaviors vary among breeds, humans run the gamut of types. If you are not a flexible person you cannot coordinate the trinity of the trainer, owner, and animal.

Jokerz Performance - Mechanic TechnicianAshkum, Illinois10/2017 - 03/2020
  • Inspected and tested equipment, machinery and components to diagnose issues, recognize defects and determine appropriate repairs focusing primarily on superchargers.
  • Performed troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of Superchargers from all brands and all models.
  • Frequently diagnosed mechanical problems and determined how to correct issues.
  • Implemented preventive maintenance measures to decrease emergent issues.
  • Recommended design modifications to eliminate Supercharger system malfunctions. Porting and modifying the system for better performance.
  • Collaborated with manufactures, vendors and clients to resolve design issues. We also created our own throttle bodies and other components working with other companies. The good companies wanted to know how to make their products better. Some wanted us to keep defective parts issues behind closed doors.
  • Devoted special emphasis to punctuality and worked to maintain outstanding attendance record, consistently arriving to work ready to start immediately.
  • Resolved conflicts and negotiated mutually beneficial agreements between parties. The aftermarket racing world can be full of alpha males who never want to be wrong to a fault. Dealing with strong personalities while still making sure to utilize that passion and fire for something is the key. Channeling that energy instead of stopping it.
  • Worked with customers to understand needs and provide service. Being an all custom shop each component was different from the other depending on the needs of the vehicle and customer.
  • Resolved problems, improved operations and provided exceptional client support. Before I got to the shop it was pretty unorganized. I brought in a large white board for brainstorming and lists, which led to the manager loving it so much he got a giant calendar erase board as well. The simple solutions streamlined production and put things in perspective for deadlines pacing throughout the weeks. I got the nickname "lemonade" because when we would have an issue or something I felt we could make better when life gave us lemons. Chipping away at something isn't as appreciated as it once was. The quick fix is destroying the idea of the marathon of certain tasks.
  • Monitored social media and online sources for industry trends. We had a social media guy assigned strictly to this job. I had to constantly go back and edit all of his ads, posts, and other type written publicity online. Between the run-ons and the extra word embellishments. Having to do his job didn't bother me because there was an issue and it needed to be solved for the betterment and success of the company. I was able to utilize my skills as a writer in another realm.
  • Maintained excellent attendance record, consistently arriving to work on time. The only time I missed work was for knee surgery, shoulder surgery, severe road conditions, and one natural disaster. The easiest part of any job is to show up. If you can't do that you are basically worthless. Family and hobbies away from work are needed to have that break but when you are there that time is allotted for the job in front of you.
  • Assembled products and components using variety of equipment, including drills, presses, grinders, air tools, power washers, heavy machinery, making proactive adjustments to settings to produce work within tight tolerances within millimeters.
  • Maintained order, accuracy and customer satisfaction by double-checking packing labels while packaging our products. Simple but also complicated at times during deadlines.
  • Kept work areas clean, organized and safe to promote efficiency and team safety. I was the pseudo-wife reminding others to pick up after everybody; done in a motivating manner. Was told my area did not have to be that nice but the organization brought a better product and a somewhat regimented routine in a custom shop.
  • Cultivated productive and safe atmosphere while supervising another employee working with all types of heavy equipment. The original hourly rate worker wasn't very happy when I made jobs quicker and more efficient because his approach to the company was pay not growth.
  • Removed debris and trash and swept up metal parts following each shift to keep work areas clean and organized. We dealt with aluminum and other metals on a daily basis.

  • Is some form of fashion I've been caring or my Mother since I was a small child. At the age of six May of 1990, she attempted an overdose on medication. I found her in her room and called 911. She was pronounced dead once came back on a ventilator and was in a coma for six months. She had to learn how to eat walk and talk again through years of grueling rehab at home and at facilities. Only communication at first was a black and white card and a yes and no card. Her vocal cords were cut from the throat tube for breathing during the overdose so her speech was always hard and slow to understand. She still was highly intelligent, well read and educated, even a nurse prior. I became her full time caretaker, personal assistant, accountant, home maintenance, amateur psychologist, physical therapist, nutritionist, language therapist, occupational therapist and about the jack of all other trades on the fly literally just after graduating high school and entering college on a limited basis when somebody could care for her during my classes.
  • Surprisingly, she came down with terminal cancer in the summer of 2016 being diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. She was given only five to six weeks to live. She survived for 22 weeks in which I took her on a trip to the Southwest for almost two weeks while I took over all medical care on the fly. It was very hard to stay professional during that time when my job was caring for a loved one as close as a mother. This part of my life has created a mode where I can compartmentalize. Being able to detach yourself from situations and be objective is a skill that should be valued more in our society. Subjectivity is a filter that can truly cloud good judgement.
Lone Tree Leader - EditorOnarga, IL08/2009 - 07/2016
  • Collaborated with graphics department to help design, develop, and implement visual elements for stories, sales, and promotions. We had to innovate to get attention for newspapers in a world of digital news consumption especially in a competitive market of same city papers.
  • Prepared, rewrote and edited pieces to improve readability and impact. Having a few eyes look over anything should be standard.
  • Studied and maintained full proficiency/engagement with interview styles to meet specific standards and project needs. Set-up and spoke at seminars, one with New York Times Bestselling author James Riordan on how to interview celebrities and other important leaders in finance and politics. Dealing with egos in the right manner can make or break relationships. You have to be objective, but still not sugar coat a vital topic that needs to be addressed. That approach is not cookie-cutter. There is an organic blueprint on how to deal with people and create chemistry between them.
  • Communicated directly with reporters and other editors on the team to assess stories and improve quality of work when time allotted. I always made sure the entire team was congruent as much as possible even in fluent occurrences where newspaper news could be irrelevant by the day of issue compared to online news.
  • Initially reported on local, state, national athletic events and programs to provide interesting sports stories for readers. This led to my own Op-Ed called Crouse's Commentary that focused on the many controversial topics not usually covered by mainstream media. Became the most read content at the paper which blossomed into topics far away from the sports realm. Crouse's Commentary helped many businesses get their launch so I understand how important that task can be to get people to change to anything different whether a product or service.
  • Our culture created a motivated staff to achieve demanding targets under tight deadlines. Wednesday by noon was the mantra. Many times came down to 11:57am because of the constant news cycle versus a newsprint media company. I was away from the office HQ a large percentage of the time either at home or in the field gathering info. We had a small workforce so workloads could vary week to week.
  • Built productive relationships with writers, business owners, teachers, politicians, police officers, county government administrators to study planning and zoning negotiations, consumers, designers and other professionals to successfully produce advertising highlighting local business to stimulate growth for the area. Also would speak with customers and the local people to get the common man's take. The better the businesses do, the better a paper can operate based on their advertising dollars because of the success of their work and our coverage in ads.
  • Took photos when requested. Chose and prepared photos for use with feature pieces. These marketing optics decisions can make or break an entire issue or advertisement. Various approaches were taken depending on the current pulse of the news cycle or what was popular at the time to create attention to inform and entertain.
  • Monitored breaking news for information on incidents, events and topics of interest to quickly assign coverage to staff.
  • At the Lone Tree Leader they originally had me coming in as a columnist on an internship to be a journalist attending college for my Bachelors at Governor's State. That program involving Kankakee Community College was dissolved and they refunded my tuition and I just ran with this opportunity and cut my teeth the old fashioned way. That grew quickly where I began covering the Chicago Bears, local and state politics, high school sports as well as being a member of NFL media during the draft in Chicago.
  • During that time I also gained roles as sales and marketing and the sports editor. My real love was following the pulse of news and politics so the sports took a backseat to events affecting our social climate more directly not long after being a member of the Associated Press.
  • Posted and promoted articles on [Type], [Type] and [Type] social media platforms.
