Activities and Honors

GPC Film Club President (2013-2015)

  • Responsible for leading bi-monthly meetings, guiding the course of discussion, suggesting and coordinating projects, requesting progress updates regarding ongoing projects, and critiquing projects at various points of completion. Coordinated and hosted several annual events for the club, including film showings and student film festivals. Attended committee meetings as a representative for the club as well as preparing and presenting budget pitches for annual grants. Allocated the allotted funds to expenses for events and equipment for student filmmakers.

GPC Student Film Festival Host (2013-2015)

  • In charge of creating entry guidelines, soliciting entries from students across all campuses, assessing the entries received, and selecting competitors from qualifying films. Created posters and advertising regarding submission deadlines and the event itself, as well as programs outlining the festival lineup and ensured that information on all was accurate and grammatically correct. Oversaw set-up of the film festival and ensured that lighting, projection, and sound systems were functioning properly.

Special Guest Host for Midtown Art Cinema's screening of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (2014)

  • Invited as an honored guest to introduce a film and moderate a discussion afterwards for one of the theater's weekly classic film screenings. Extensively researched the production and cultural impact of the film and employed prior film history knowledge to compose an introduction and conclusion speech. Fielded questions and moderated a discussion with audience members immediately following the film. Pulled the highest attendance numbers of any prior or subsequent classic film screening at the theater.

GPC 50th Anniversary Symposium Panel Moderator (2015)

  • Organized and moderated a panel at the symposium entitled "Representation of Radical 60s Counterculture on Film." Researched and applied prior knowledge of film history to choose a film as the focus of the panel. Wrote and gave an educational introduction and conclusion after extensive research into the production and cultural impact of the film, taking great care to relate it to the theme of the symposium and current events. Lead and moderated a discussion among the audience.

GPC Student Film Festival Guest Judge (2016)

  • Invited as an honorary guest judge to the film festival. I was responsible for assessing and rating each film on a technical, narrative, and creative basis and subsequently determining winners.
