f you're trying to change industries, your cover letter is an excellent place to highlight your transferable skills. But first you must figure out which of your skills are transferable. Do this by reading the job ads in your desired industry. Highlight every skill that applies to you.
Once you have a list of transferable skills, it's time to add them to your cover letter. In the cover letter you must tell a story that illuminates why you are seeing a role in a new industry. Include at least one or two key skills you noticed in the job ad, and use the exact phrasing.
You should also explain how your skill set directly translates to the position by sharing a few of your chief qualifications. Drive the point home by including a bullet-point list of your most impressive quantifiable achievements. Each line is an opportunity to highlight another attractive transferable skill.
