Growth as a person and as a professional requires taking some risks. You should consider stepping out of your comfort zone to pursue new challenges if your comfort zone becomes too comfortable. What I mean by that is this: If you become bored by your job, or feel completely and totally unchallenged by your job, you should consider moving on to a new job, one that offer new challenges and a chance to learn new things.
Here are some other tips to help you avoid big career mistakes: Don't allow your professional life to stagnate by not continuing to learn. Sign up for courses, attend conferences and read books and papers tied to your industry. Make sure that you follow through on your commitments at work and don't make promises on which you cannot deliver. Keep your cool – even under demanding circumstances. Your decision-making skills will be compromised if you act when you are angry or under duress. Make decisions when you have had ample time to think about things with a cool, clear head.
Finally, build, manage and maintain your network! Over time, things will change. You never know when you might need one or more of your connections to provide some assistance with an introduction, which could lead to a promising opportunity! Your network is an important aspect of your long-term career. Build it. Don't neglect it.
