Any awards for excellence on the job are great additions to your resume. Whether it's as a top salesperson or for setting a new safety record, describe the award itself and what you did to receive it. Being named Employee of the Month more than once shows an ongoing commitment to excellence, so add that to your resume, as well. Any annual recognition awards such as Person of the Year or Volunteer of the Year are good for your resume because they show long-term commitment to a project or organization.
If you're new to the work force, fresh out of high school or college, you can include student awards. Student of the month or year, National Honor Society selection, Valedictorian, and Summa or Magna Cum Laude recognition all show your work ethic and dedication. Sites like LiveCareer offer Information on resume award do's and don'ts to help you make the most of your work achievements.
