  • Conduct trainings for all new and current DOC staff on the PREA Federal Standards and NYC DOC Directive.

  • Evaluate contract performance reports, as well as agency fiscal documents to ensure contract compliance.

  • Make daily rounds in the facility to ensure inmate sexual safety.
  • Travel to all 13 NYC DOC confinement facilities to ensure Federal PREA Compliance is being followed.
  • Advocate for inmate rights as needed in all Sexual Abuse/Sexual Harassment investigations during and beyond the investigation period.
  • Review NYC DOC Genetec Camera System to ensure that all Sexual Safety Policies are being followed.
  • Spot check log books to ensure all supervisors are conducted daily unannounced PREA rounds.
  • Conduct 60 day Sexual Safety Assessment meeting at with investigators, mental health, and facility staff to ensure that the investigation was conducted properly.
  • Make recommendations to facilities to ensure that inmates are free from any sexual assault and/or harassment.

  • Investigate reports of suspected abuse or maltreatment and make 60 day final investigation determinations.
  • Respond immediately to homes in potentially dangerous crisis and emergency situations during business hours and on-call hours.
  • Fieldwork to included interviewing youth in detention centers and interviewing family members in their homes to assess eligibility for programs.
  • Preformed sensitive investigations of allegations of child abuse and neglect, including observation; conducting interviews; detecting signs of child abuse and neglect; interrogations; forensics; and collecting evidence and other documentation.
  • Ensuring communication, teamwork, and engaging all involved parties in helping to coordinate and locate children who are missing; such as in foster care or other types on placement.
  • Conducted forensic interviews of children using established interview models.
  • Performed thorough investigations, including interviewing parent(s), neighbors, teachers, doctors and others with information.
  • Develop detailed and comprehensive written reports for judges, attorneys, and other social service providers on the appropriateness of the case.
  • Testify in court regarding submitted written reports.
  • Counsel families in need of assistance.
  • Coordinate safe and secure youth plans on emergency basis.
  • Collaborate and share information with law enforcement.
  • Work with law enforcement to take action to ensure the safe return of AWOL minors to a foster care, placement, or detention setting.
  • Thorough documentation using photographs documenting bruises and abrasions.
  • Write affidavits for courts and testified in court.
  • Help devise treatment plans for parents of removed children where reunification was the goal.
  • Make recommendation, referrals, and monitor community resources for food, shelter, clothing, utilities and substance abuse treatment.
  • Coordinate case conferences with multiple parties involved in a particular case to determine the best outcome for the client.
  • Assist Director and Commissioner of Social Services with Corrective Action Plans implemented by OCFS.
  • Provide coverage for colleagues as necessary.
  • Supervise caseloads through casework contact biweekly and weekly home visits.
  • Document all case records on Connections Database and gather information from agency approved databases.
  • Work in partnership with programs in the community in an ongoing basis to ensure the quality of care.
