I was apart of 4-H for nine years. I learned several important skills through out those years. The most important being a leader.
I was blessed to be apart of two trips to Washington D.C. where I met congressmen and senators alike. I got to explore this nations capital and enjoy the history of how it was founded. The best part of the whole trip was visiting Mount Vernon, George Washington's estate. It was there I learned he was the first farmer to practice field rotation. A concept that utterly changed the way farming has been done ever since.
Farming has been apart of this country from the moment it started and is an important tradition to be carried on to the next generation.
I have had cattle since I was a freshman in high school. I wanted to raise a steer and sell it that was my main goal for that year. Since then I have raised four steers and successfully sold them at auction. I also started my own breeding program which has had four beautiful healthy calves born in the last two years since starting.
