Professional Summary

Statement of Teaching Philosophy

I have a passion for people that translates into the classroom. I have a fondness for adult learners who are returning to school to earn an education. Often our students in the classroom (and online) are juggling work, family and school to better themselves and provide ample opportunities for their future. My personality and skillset make me an excellent candidate to help students achieve course learning objectives with integrity and compassion. Teaching psychology, human resources, organizational behavior and communications requires being attentive to all learning styles and sharing in discussion boards and classroom. Thorough feedback is vital to student success. As an instructor, I believe being engaging and animated can help translate theories, concepts and philosophies to students that would otherwise overwhelm and frustrate if one can’t grasp the material being presented. I also believe establishing an atmosphere that encourages curiosity and inquiry can enhance the learning experience.

Because I myself have been an adult learner I know the importance of having an instructor that is nurturing but also enlightening. To a student, there is no greater feeling than leaving a class feeling you have mastery over the subject matter and as an instructor there is no greater feeling than students who feel that way. I hope to convey to students that learning is constant and that you learn something new every day. I continue to grow and develop myself professionally to become a better person and instructor. It is my professional aspiration that students will be able to apply the concepts and theories they learn in class in their everyday life.
