Responsible for the design and development for 7 Women's Private Brand footwear lines, all catering to different brand DNAs and targeting different customers: ANA, Arizona, Worthington, Liz Claiborne, St. Johns Bay, East 5th, Brand C.
Manage and oversee a team of 3; 2 assistants and one coordinator
Manage all design development through various suppliers oversea; at times up to 15 different factories. Handle all daily communication with these factories as well as our IBO and ensure development needs adhered to corporate deadlines
Through shopping both internationally and domestically, I compile trend reports and color palettes for each season that pertained to each brands need and present them to the VP of design and PD for final approval
Oversee my team on submission of all design spec sheets to our oversea suppliers and filter through any questions or concerns
Travel oversees to China at least 2x a year to oversee and finalize all development submitted to our factories. During that trip, I would visit vendors, visit the domestic market for materials and hardware as well as shop HK for additional trend direction
Work directly with TD on reviewing, correcting and confirming all fit samples and pattern corrections through the development lifecycle
Oversee the team in all confirmation approvals for production sign off
Responsible for Implementing footwear processes within my first year in this role ie: confirmation forms, linesheet layout, picture sheet format, labeling systems
Assisted in finalization of all packaging for brand re-launches and keeping our suppliers and vendors informed of these changes
Collaborate with VP of Product Development on creating the footwear calendar for the year based on design needs for 2x a year
Worked closely with sourcing to ensure our factory matrix was balanced
Collaborated with sourcing to ensure all development was built into our given margin goals and discussing dual transfers as needed or factory shifts per product.
Assort and merchandise each brand presentation, independently and then together categorically, to make sure the assortment presented to the buy team is balanced not only from a trend perspective but from a category perspective based on needs and what drives sales
Manage relationship with all of our indirect vendors and ensure all output of development is driven for brand success from a design and costing perspective. I then would attend all market week appointments with the buy team to see the final product and work the final assortment with the buy team
Work directly with the design director on the wholesale and mid-teir development of Anne Klein footwear 6 times a yeat. Customer base was; Macys, Lord & Taylor, Belk, Bonton, anneklein.com, DSW and TJMax
Responsible for the conceptual development of each collection, participated in research related to design, material, color and trend and ensure timely development of lines by creating and adhering to product calendars.
Travel to International trade shows to preview new trends, material, and colors as well as European shopping trips for seasonal inspiration and new ideas
Sourced all materials through vendors (leather, synthetics, textiles) and was responsible for creating and presenting color palettes and story boards for each development season
Assist in presenting seasonal collections and trend/color direction to the sales team that married back to slot plans
Apply my knowledge of costing and the logistics of shoemaking and how it applies to our brand while working closely with Pricing and Sourcing teams to develop cost effective collections that hit margin goals
Collaborate and work closely with technical team during all fit points throughout production to confirm overall aesthetic and fit as well as maintain quality standard for production
Travel 6 times a year to our factories in China to oversee all development and finalize and release prototypes for sampling prior to each market
Assist in building the line around a cohesive merchandising strategy with the assist of class plans provided by the Sales team and a design vision for the season
Communicate daily with overseas factories as it pertains to the development, sampling, and production process
Shopped domestically and internationally as well as attend all seasonal trade shows to deliver design ideas to successfully build the lines
Travel to China 6 times a year to assist in the product development and design process as well as oversee all stages of sampling from proto through production.
