Worked on while working on two other projects and had to coordinate releasing versions of application with changes comprised of work done for all three projects and plus support issues fixes. Used DataStage jobs for systems integration of item, component, and price lists from ERP for creating quotes, provided means of testing item releases in test quotes before promotion of item updates for use in actual quotes, and allows for sales management visibility to all quotes made to customers for improved sales forecasting. Worked with project team members while designing, coding, and testing new Visual Basic screens and DataStage jobs.

2006 – 2008 - Expanding BI Environment

Automated Weekly Payroll Processing for Retail:

Designed DataStage jobs to pull data from computers at 90 retail centers across North America through high latency satellite data connections, store data gathered into SQL Server database, and then transferring data to iSeries once data had been pulled from the centers for validation.

Utilized: DataStage developer, lookup of hash file data from batch job to get center connection and data criteria and passed through to other jobs that copied data from retail centers to centralized SQL Server database, designed jobs for multiple retry attempts, maintained log records of center statuses, transferred data from SQL Server to iSeries using ODBC.


Implemented Financial Data Mart for Retail:

Assisted with technical issues, SQL Server database and security updates, DataStage job design, and implementation. iSeries was the source of data and SQL Server housed the data mart. Exclusively supported after co-worker left company.

Utilized: System Technical Architect, DataStage developer technical and architectural assistance, standards, and naming conventions, assisted with development issues and batch jobs, helped design SQL Server databases, and helped with Business Objects Universe design.


Supported TimePro for Retail Centers:

Worked with the retail applications team to upgrade and consolidate TimePro on centralized Servers using Terminal Services along with rework to DataStage jobs and setup of new SQL Server and application servers. Updated Visual Basic 6.0 application for maintaining center information (location, equipment, IP addresses, etc.) to allow for better searches, running database, VBS, and bat file scripts in bulk across multiple centers, better ping support, and remote desktop integration.

Utilized: System Technical Architect, Visual Basic developer, SQL Server DBA and developer, purchased application configuration and support, DataStage developer, iSeries using ODBC, terminal services support, and VBS and batch file scripting.


Implemented Point Of Sales and Labor Data Warehouse for Retail:

Designed to take daily cash receipts from iSeries using ODBC and labor from TimePro SQL Server database using OLEDB to populate a SQL Server based data warehouse. Exclusively supported after co-worker left company.

Assisted with Hyperion Implementation:

Helped setup servers and learned primary support tasks while working with consultants and trained on Hyperion installation and configuration.

Upgraded DataStage and Data Warehouse Server:

Worked with consultants and IT staff to test over 600 jobs used for simple file transfers, systems integration, and data warehousing. Upgraded to Version 8.0.1 (first version since IBM purchased DataStage) and SQL Server 2008.

Multi-company support added to sales and orders data warehouse:

Worked with consultant to add company number to keys in SQL Server database tables and updated DataStage jobs to include data for specific company numbers and process data by including company numbers in joins and keys.

Utilized: SQL Server developer, segregate key usage for tables with slowly changing dimensions as part of a star schema and multiple levels of fact table aggregation, defined project tasks and estimates, and worked with team of co-workers and consultants to test and implement.


SQL Server Reporting Services Proof of Concept:

Expanded into opportunity management and forecasting capabilities by replacing existing FoxPro application and adding shipment planning for Logistics and Contract Management departments. Also added corporate calendar maintained in ERP system using DataStage jobs so dates could appear in correct accounting month. Made use of Crystal Reports within Visual Basic and SQL Server views. Trained users in all departments.

Replaced SNAP with GoldMine for Y2K project:

Converted and cleansed data before importing into GoldMine using T-SQL, automated remote and network installs using WinBatch scripting, and implemented using Microsoft SQL Server for network users and dBase files for remote users on notebooks while working with consultant for GoldMine configuration and administration knowledge.
