A dedicated Septa employee for 27 yrs, started as a bus driver, then worked up to become a 1st class mason. With hard work and dependability earned the respect of co-workers and foreman. The ability to lead by example led to become a lead man on all jobs that were assigned to me, which led to the freedom and responsibility of doing manager duties such as ordering concrete, communicating directly with engineering, and making field decisions. Currently backfilling the foreman position and have been holding that position for a little over a year. In 1990 took a job with Neill contracting doing mostly high end residential work. For the security and benefits, in 1993 took the job as a Septa bus driver as a way of getting a foot into Septa. During those years 1993 to 1999 while driving a bus at night, continued to work for Neill Contracting fulltime during the day because of the desire to learn more about construction. In 1999 while waiting 6 yrs. for a carpenter transfer to go thru, an opportunity came up to become a septa mason. Anyway in to the buildings department was the goal. During this time continued to work for Neill contracting but only part time. When turning 18 in 1988 started to work for Terminal Freight Handling (Sears ) as a shipper and receiver and worked there on 3rd shift until the company closed in 1992. In 1982 at the age of 12, started working with Claire masonry on the weekends as a apprentice in the construction field, until graduating high school and got a job at Terminal Freight Handling.
