As Senior Application Developer, I am responsible for:

  • Participated in all phases of system development life cycle, from requirements analysis through system implementation.
  • Participate in client interaction sessions, analyze business requirements and provide system analysis in initial phase of project life cycle for SDN (System Development Notices) in CA-MMIS System.
  • Coordinate with Business Analyst to define and identify scope of project and translate project requirements to functional requirements with help of Subject Matter Expert.
  • Collaborate with internal development teams (Mainframe, Java, .Net, Database) to produce integrated software design and architecture called SFD (System Functional Design) that meets client's requirements.
  • Responsible for designing of new mainframe Jobs, Programs, Copybooks, Instream Procedures, FTP Processes and VSAM Master files as per functional requirements.
  • Perform impact analysis on Daily and Weekly Claims processing systems and identify impacted components that need to be modified to support functional requirements.
  • Involve in creating TSD (Technical Specification Design) documents for impacted mainframe components versus associated functional requirements and detailed technical code changes versus mainframe components.
  • Create detailed test plan and test case documents that assures all the relevant aspects of application are tested as per customer's requirements and adheres to IBM defined quality processes within base-lined schedule.
  • Perform Coding, Unit testing, Integration testing and Parallel testing on new and modified components and document all test results. Peer review of test results to ensure quality testing is performed within team. Work on testing impacted application end to end to verify anomalies in system. Perform regression testing in parallel to help ensure non-impacted systems are working without issues.
  • Provide support for defects/incidents reported by client and resolve issues within SLA (Service Level Agreement) by making appropriate coding in mainframe components. Perform Production deployment activities and facilitate Production checkout activities and document artifacts during PIR (Post Implementation Review) phase.

Home Owners Automated Computer Transactions [HOACT] applications contain policies, new policies, mid-term changes, cancellations, reinstatements, renewals, renewal changes, and producer changes [from one producer to another producer].

HOACT, a homeowner's policy application is mainly used for creating policy statements and transactions for other applications. It takes input from PWS [a collection of 80-byte records], HRN and BCWS. HOACT verifies, rates and sends output transactions to Statistical Recording system (SRS), Electronics Forms Printing (EFP) [for policy printing] and to Policy View Online (PVO) [to view policy online]

HOACT also sends output to ATLAS application for claiming process and to BCWS for agent billing process. Also, it sends information to STAT for financial statements.

My responsibilities as application developer:

  • Started working as application developer to take up challenging roles in enhancement projects as compared to roles performed as application tester in previous projects.
  • Coordinated with Technical Lead and other senior team members to understand business requirements and convert them into technical requirements.
  • Identified impacted mainframe components such as Programs, Copybooks, Jobs, Procedures, etc., during Conceptual Design Phase of project.
  • Worked closely with team to provide Detailed Design for all impacted components that are assigned. DRP (Distribution Requirement Planning): This system is a core system of North America applications, used to generate recommendations for each brand for each P&G location. It receives unplanned orders, inventory, and receipts for each brand from various applications such as OSB (Order shipping Billing) for US locations, OS&B for Canada locations and N6P SAP system for Puerto Rico locations. It then processes data and creates recommendations for all those brands depending on their inventory, orders and enroutes for all lanes. It also provides various recommendations and enroutes reports used by DRP Planners.

As tester, I performed below activities.

  • Understand all business requirements and functional requirements in High-Level-Design document.
  • Go through all impacted system functionalities, Reports, Screens to understand current functionality against that is being changed as part of project.
  • Prepare Test Plans, Test cases, and Test scripts to test application ensuring application compliance with requirements and able to manage action items.
  • Provide Walk through of all Test Plans and other related documents to to technical lead, business analyst and other stake holders within team including clients.
