Summary

As a skilled cell and molecular biologist with ~13 years of experience in Cancer Biology research, I have successfully managed my lab at the Ohio State University, mentored several undergraduates, graduate students and Post-docs, and demonstrated strong leadership skills. I have achieved success in securing federal grants, including DoD and NIH grants, with exceptional grant-writing skills. I have also published and reviewed several articles and progress reports, presented scientific data at 20+ national and international conferences, and designed and executed innovative research projects using creative approaches to achieve research outcomes. My excellent written and verbal communication skills have enabled me to effectively present data and cross collaborate with fellow researchers.

Research Experience
Research Scientist, 06/2022 - Current
Peraton Offutt Air Force Base, NE,
  • Led the cross-collaborative research studies and mentored the researchers focused on identifying the role of Slit2 in breast tumorigenesis through modulating tumor microenvironment.
  • Establish the novel role of soluble Slit2 protein as a biotherapeutic in inhibiting breast tumor burden. The procedure involved: MMTV-PyMT and Xenograft mouse models, Adeno-Slit2 treatment, multi-color flow cytometry, and ELISA. Achievements: These studies were published in Cancer Res. 2021, Front Immunol. 2021 and Mol Onc. 2022.
  • Wrote, compiled and edited assigned portions of proposals and project reports to achieve grant writing and publication objectives.
  • Writing IACUC and IRB protocols, and managed laboratory personnel and monitored team performance and work quality.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, 05/2019 - 06/2022
University Of Kansas Medical Center Topeka, KS,
  • Independently led the collaborative studies focused on identifying the novel role of S100A7 in regulating Obesity and Obesity-associated TNBC (Major Achievement: Filed US Patent for this study: 63/429,664; 2022).
  • Determined the biotherapeutic effects of our developed novel human S100A7 neutralizing antibody against TNBC using multiple different approaches (e.g., 3D-Organoid cell culture, Orthotopic breast cancer mouse model).
  • Mentored a graduate student in analyzing the functional role of miR-1 in cisplatin resistivity in non-small cell lung cancer. The experimental design included: In vitro combination analysis, RNA-seq, miRNA-based gene therapy, integrated OMICs approach, in vivo models, and In-situ hybridization.
Pelotonia Post Doctoral Fellow, 04/2016 - 04/2019
Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center City, STATE,
  • Established humanized patient-derived xenograft (PDX) mouse model of breast cancer and evaluated the anti-cancer effect of cPLA2 inhibitor using multi-color flow cytometry.
  • Developed MMTV-rtTA;TetO-mS100a7a15-C3-TAG triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) mouse model and evaluated the impact of S100A7 overexpression on TNBC burden. Procedures involved transgenic mice colony maintenance, tumor harvesting, and immune cell profiling using multi-color flow cytometry and CODEX.
  • Uncovered preliminary evidence for a novel role of S100A7 in breast tumor microbiota. Served as the basis for one institutional (PIIO) funded grant. Achievements: Published a partial part of this study as a co-corresponding author in Molecular Oncology journal.
  • Designed and performed a series of in vitro and in vivo experiments to test the hypothesis that cPLA2 blockade attenuates S100A7-mediated breast tumorigenicity by inhibiting the immunosuppressive TME. Achievements: Claire et al, J Exp Clin Cancer Res, 2022 (share first and co-corresponding authorship).
  • Writing and reviewing SOPs, maintained field equipment and performed troubleshooting techniques to keep tools fully operational.
Graduate Researcher, 07/2010 - 04/2016
Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research City, STATE,
  • Initiated a new cross-collaborative project to decipher the role of miRNAs in breast cancer. Led to a publication in Cancer Lett. 2015.
  • Collaborated with other lab members which led to the development of novel protein-based biomarkers and auto-antibodies for breast cancer prognosis. Led to a publication in J Proteomics. 2016 and Proteomics Clin Appl. 2016.
  • Analyze the genotoxicity of different commercial compounds using different in vitro and in vivo toxicity assays such as micronuclei assay, chromosomal aberration analysis, and DNA damage response.
