Dear Mr. Coogan,

I read with great interest your recent ad for a Funeral Assistant and am submitting my resume for your review and consideration. Not a job that appeals to most perhaps I’m drawn to it because of my childhood friend whose family owned and lived in the only funeral home in our small town. We played equally at both of our houses and my curiosity was not stifled out of fear. The kindness of her father in dealing with bereaved families made the process seem natural and compassionate.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) I am currently a Municipal Morgue Attendant where I regularly assist the pathologist during autopsies by helping to transfer the body to the autopsy table sealing and labeling tissue samples cleaning the area and disposing of potentially biohazardous material. I feel I could bring my technical skills to the Coogan Funeral Home along with the empathy and understanding required to deal more directly with grieving families.

I am studying toward a degree in mortuary science and feel that working for you as a Funeral Assistant will help me realize my goal of someday being a Funeral Director myself. In addition to the technical skills required to do the job I would bring the soft skills that define the profession.

I look forward to your call to discuss how I can help maintain your already fine reputation. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Shayna Booker
