As the tourism industry remains at a lull because of consumers' unwillingness to spend on traveling, individuals with careers in hotel management are looking for ways to draw people to their facilities. By making their hotels attractive, managers may be able to draw a larger fan base and boost interest. As a way to attract visitors, hotel managers tend to design their hotels in a sleek fashion that is not only eye-catching, but also has a luxurious feel. W Hotels, a company that is known for their modern feel, recently announced the appointment of Amanda Ross to be the company's first ever Global Fashion Director, which could be considered a form of interior design. Ross has previous experience in fashion, working as a market director for Harper's Bazaar, style consultant for Lipstick Jungle and a personal stylist for the likes of Mariska Hargitay and Julianna Margulies. "Fashion is an extension of design, one of the key differentiators for W Hotels," said Eva Ziegler, Global Brand Leader, W Hotels Worldwide and Le Meridien. "As fashion is ever-changing and evolving on a seasonal basis, it appeals to our guests who are always seeking the latest, newest, hippest, and Amanda, with her extensive industry experience, will guide us in further integrating fashion into our hotels in credible ways that positively affect the guest experience." According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, interior designing careers are expected to increase by 19% by 2018. |
