The hotel industry not only offers a fun getaway for those looking for an adventure, but also a creative work environment for their employees. Someone interested in working in the hotel industry should exhibit good people skills and be willing to provide above-and-beyond customer service.

Apparently, a lot of people believe they are up to the task of working in a hotel. The Los Angeles Times reports that hotels in the area have seen a surge in applicants as many establishments are either undergoing renovations or expansions that could lead to more open positions.

Insiders point out that the growth in popularity could have emerged because the hotel industry does not require as much education as other fields that make the career appealing to the masses.

"When something opens up in one of the service sectors that doesn't require a heavy level of education, it's not surprising that so many people would show up," John Husing, an independent economist with Economics & Politics Inc., told the news provider.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a 14% employment increase by 2018 for the hotel industry.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19524568-ADNFCR
