Despite a weakened economy, there are travel deals and discounts available for people, though the only way to get access to them may by employing the services of a travel agent. Lauren Goldenberg, who is a travel agent, told the Seattle Times she thinks the current economical climate is the best time for families to travel together. "I haven't had any clients return from trips in the past few months complaining about any noticeable decrease in services or amenities," Goldenberg said. "On the contrary, they're raving about the experience, maybe because the crowds have dispersed and the prices are at historic lows." More hotel resorts and airlines are offering discounts to entice people to travel again. Recently, it was reported that some Hawaiian resorts had sliced its prices for families, offering free nights at certain times. Though a career as a travel agent may be susceptible to the ups and downs of the economy, it also affords a person the ability to get creative as they search for bargains for their customers. Travel agents who specialize in a certain destination or type of vacation, such as helping families, may have better opportunities in the industry, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. |
