Travel agents are the great voyagers in today's times. While they may not attempt to go east by sailing west, these professionals map out exciting vacation options for weary workers and families. Members of this industry are expected to be knowledgeable about everything from bullfighting in Spain to the price of tea in China. Two college students who are dedicated to pursuing careers in the travel industry have received scholarships recognizing their academic achievements and supporting their career goals, Perspective Magazine reports. The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) reviewed 90 applications from 18 Caribbean locations to select two students deserving of the grant, according to Perspective Magazine. This year, the selection committee chose students Roderick Beazer and Koran Kong with the awards. Beazer studies culinary arts management at the Art Institute of Atlanta. A pioneer, the native of Antigua's sister island Barbuda will be the first Barbudan to earn a degree in culinary arts, and the first receive a CHTAEF scholarship. Kong, who is receiving the Interval scholarship for the second time, is studying for a bachelor's degree in culinary arts at Johnson and Wales University in Miami. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that those with careers in travel who specialize in a travel destination, type of traveler or mode of transportation have the best chances for success in the industry.  |
