After losing a job, it may take months for a person to enter a new career. A resume test might reveal that an individual has been missing important keywords and experience while applying for positions. There are a few steps people can take into consideration while job hunting to make the process easier, according to the Business Insider.

Individuals are encouraged to look over resume samples before creating the final version of their own to submit to employers. Samples are an efficient way to determine whether a resume is too cluttered or missing key phrases that may catch a hiring manager's attention. Job hunters can also get a better idea of how to structure their piece by looking over examples.

Depending on the positions a person is applying for, they may also want to consider creating more than one resume. Different versions can be used to emphasized strengths that may pertain to a specific position.

Regardless, individuals should always keep their resumes fresh. A job hunter should put their top accomplishments and most notable experiences at the top of a resume to generate interest.

The unemployment rate in December was 9.4%, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. A fine-tuned, organized resume may help an individual stand out from other applicants.
