Job seekers or mid-career changers may want to consider adding additional training to their resumes in order to find work in high growth fields. UCLA Extension said it has aligned its continuing education program to meet the top hiring trends and career strategies expected for 2012, including healthcare, information technology, engineering, management and financial planning. Dean Cathy Sandeen said the school continues to evaluate cutting edge classes and professional certificate programs across a range of occupations to meet the future needs of tomorrow's businesses. "As the economy continues to recover, there will be both new opportunities for advancement as well as increased pressure on individuals to remain current in their chosen fields and to meet the increasing demands of their profession or industry," Sandeen noted. Sandeen said the trend also is steadily shifting toward more online offerings through university-based continuing education as more professionals seek to enhance their resumes to advance in their fields. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, professionals with an advanced postsecondary degree have the potential to earn $1,000 more per week than those with some or no college education. |
