A recent survey of more than 3,000 hiring managers has found 4 job trends for candidates to look for in the new year.

According to the Harris Interactive annual job forecast survey, 62% of employers said they planned to increase compensation for existing staff, while another 32% said they will offer higher starting salaries for new workers. The largest pay hikes are expected for professionals with business development, sales, IT and engineering experience on their resumes.

The survey found employers will be looking to bridge the skills gap through a variety of training opportunities, with 38% of those surveyed saying they will extend training to people who don't have experience in their job fields.

Employers are also anticipating a higher voluntary turnover rate this year, with more workers leaving their present jobs for higher compensation.

Professionals will also start to see more businesses looking to expand their employee diversity, with 20% of those saying they plan to add more Hispanics and African Americans to the workforce, and another 44% saying they plan to hire more bilingual workers this year.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that professionals with an advanced degree on their resume can earn $1,000 more per week than those with some or no college education.
