The health care field has been one of the main suppliers of employment in the U.S. A high number of job seekers are turning to nursing careers as a means of job security, because there is a large shortage in the industry. Many individuals seek careers in nursing as a way of helping the public. Some view nursing careers as rewarding professions in which they may selflessly help those in need.

When Robin Borrows-Wilson lost her job, she was one of the first individuals to seek the No Worker Left Behind college scholarship that was offered by the state of Michigan, according to the Herald Palladium.

She decided to change career paths and got into the nursing profession. Burrows-Wilson was recently recognized by Michigan Works as Alumni of the Year for her persistence in securing a career.

"Robin is a great example of how a person can move up her respective career ladder with additional training," Todd Gustafson, the agency's tri-county executive director, said in the news release.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in nursing are expected to increase by 22% by 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19632968-ADNFCR
