The health care industry is expected to grow quickly, especially with the onset of the new reform bill. The demand for registered nurses is so high now in Ohio that a new program was created to try to meet that need.

Butler Tech recently announced that it will begin offering a registered nursing training program this fall, according to the Oxford Press.

The school already offers a practical nursing program, but students who have completed that training have expressed that they want to continue at Butler and earn a registered nurse license.

Demand for registered nurses is also rising because of professionals who are ready to retire, according to the news source.

“A lot of nurses have returned to work who regularly wouldn’t be working, because their spouses lost jobs or hours. It forced some people to return to work," Rachel Dattilo, recruitment manager for Mercy Health Partners, told the news source. "What we project will happen is that as the economy picks up, nurses will begin retiring. There are a large number of nurses who are over the age of 50. They are going to retire, and we’re going to have a huge need for RNs in the work force.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of registered nurses is expected to increase by 22% through 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19935069-ADNFCR
