Many individuals have the necessary experience on their resume to find a job in the health care field, but companies have been reluctant to hire new employees due to the poor economic conditions.

Recently, Kindred Healthcare, a provider of acute care hospital and inpatient rehabilitation services, announced that it has purchased its competitor, RehabCare. In addition to the acquisition, Kindred Healthcare plans on relocating its headquarters to Louisville, Kentucky. Approximately 150 corporate jobs will be established, and company officials say that there will be room to expand.

"Shortly after my election in November, I began meeting in an official capacity with my longtime friend Paul Diaz, who is the president and CEO of Kindred, to begin learning about how the city could further support Kindred's mission and their growth and what potential mergers could mean for the growth of our economy here in Louisville," Mayor Greg Fischer told the news source.

Fischer also noted that this move will give the location the upgrade it needs to its health care sector to draw more individuals to the area.

Jobs in the health care field are predicted to increase by 22% over the next 7 years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
