Students who are looking for a recession-proof career choice may be interested in learning more about radiology jobs. This week, the Pottsville (Penn.) Republican Herald spoke to local career professionals at Penn State Schuykill. One school official told the newspaper that careers that can be considered at least somewhat recession-proof in the current career include jobs in biomedicine, information technology, finance, nursing and radiology. "There are lots of job opportunities out there in this field. Our graduates have seen 100 percent placement within six months after graduation. Right now, we dont graduate enough students to keep up with the demand," David K. Rill of the university's radiologic science program told the newspaper. Many people are aware of a shortage of nurses in many parts of the country. However, not all of them may know that similar demand exists for skilled professionals in other areas, such as radiology and ophthalmologic medical assistants. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for radiologic technicians is expected to grow at a faster than average 15 percent clip in the coming years. Much of this will be fueled by a higher demand for diagnostic imaging brought on by an aging population. |
