Those reassessing their jobs amid the current financial crisis may do well to look into a career in health care. The sector represents the best area for job growth during the credit crunch, particularly as the aging US population means more care is needed across the country, according to John Gin of the Times-Picayune. He cited statistics indicating that 386,000 positions were added in the health care industry last year. However, it is worth looking at educational opportunities to make the most of such growth, Mr Gin asserted. "Continuous learning shows employers you are willing to acquire new skills and knowledge," he commented. "One specific skill or specialized degree might not see you through the length of your working life as it might have for previous generations." According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs as medical and health services managers are expected to rise by 16% by 2016. |
