Starting a business is a way for many people to secure their employment, along with the ability to work in a desired field. One city is bringing entrepreneurs from the surrounding region together to learn more and celebrate being a small business owner. Boston Region Entrepreneurship Week (BREW) organizers officially unveiled their latest plan to bring the small business owners of the area together. While the celebration was only planned to be a week-long gathering, most of the events will span most of the month of October. Events will range from one-on-one meetings with industry experts to huge conferences that everyone is encouraged to attend. The meetings and conferences will be held by organizers including UMass, Brown University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the MIT Enterprise Forum. "Boston Region Entrepreneurship Week (BREW) began as a single week of activity but has turned into a month of celebrating everything related to launching and nurturing companies in the Boston area," said Joe Caruso, founder of BREW. "Boston is an entrepreneurial hub. All around Boston, Worcester and Providence there is a vibrant and thriving community of people and organizations that help entrepreneurs succeed." According to the Small Business Association, as of 2005 small businesses represent 99.7% of businesses in the U.S. and employs more than 55 million people. |
