While people understand that having an advanced degree on a resume can boost a job seeker's chances of landing a good position, the cost of college may prevent many from continuing their education.

Excelsior College in Albany, New York, has announced the launch of a new innovative $10,000 pathway to obtaining a bachelor's degree, the first-of-its-kind to be offered in the country with this price guarantee.

Dr. John Ebersole, president of Excelsior, said the program is ideal for adult learners looking for a flexible and affordable means to add a degree in liberal arts to their resume.

"What makes this program truly innovative is its use of open education resources as a key source of study material for students," Ebersole added. "Excelsior has applied its expertise in credit by examination toward the development of this new opportunity as another way we can help the 37 million Americans who have some college but no degree to achieve their educational goals."

The program includes degrees in liberal studies with areas of focus in psychology, administration, or health.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, professionals with an advanced degree on their resume can earn $1,000 more per week than those with some or no college education.
