Education is a priority for everyone. With eduction systems struggling with the straggling economy, politicians are trying to find a way to improve schools and teach students in a cost effective manner.

Dan Malloy and Nancy Wyman, the Democratic endorsed candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor of Connecticut released their plans for education reform on June 28.

They two plan to focus on finding more equitable ways of funding education, and bringing new initiatives to improve the education system in Connecticut. The initiatives Malloy and Wyman have outlined include focusing on early education, connecting students to college and workplaces and encouraging a higher education agenda.

"As a young boy who faced a learning disability, I understand the importance of schools in helping all students reach their potential," said Malloy. "If not for the help of caring, dedicated teachers who treated me as more than a test score, I would never have overcome my disability, graduate from law school and have a successful career as a prosecutor and Mayor. That's what schools can help you do, and on my watch that's my dream for Connecticut's children."

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the teaching industry is expected to grow by 13% between 2008 and 2018.
