Many teachers who were displaced by the economic downturn may want to think about starting their own home-based business for preschoolers. Now, the California-based Pre K Scholars is offering a starter kit for educators thinking about using their skills to prepare children for kindergarten.

The Pre K Scholars Teachers Kit contains instructions on how to start a profitable home-based kindergarten readiness business. The kit contains a comprehensive curriculum, lesson plans, a business startup guide and classroom materials.

The program was developed by company founder Amy Schwary, who said that many educators are finding themselves in a state of transition due to the economy and local budget restraints.

"With the recent teacher layoffs, there are thousands of qualified kindergarten readiness instructors around the country,"Schwary added. "All they need is our dynamic preschool curriculum that meets or exceeds state standards and a place to hold their classes. Together we can chip away at the alarming deficiency in quality kindergarten preparation that exists today and the teachers can add to their family revenues."

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job opportunities for preschool and kindergarten teachers are expected to grow by 15% through the end of the decade.
