As technology continues to advance, those with careers in teaching are finding themselves having to adapt their curriculum to the newest software offerings. Many teachers and professors are using the latest technological devices to offer an interactive experience for their students, hoping to engage them in the lessons.

The publishing company, Macmillan, recently announced the creation of digital textbooks, which will allow professors to edit the virtual versions of the books to fit their lesson plans, according to The New York Times.

Users will be able to utilize the software to delete chapters, add notes, incorporate their syllabuses and add multimedia effects.

"Basically they will go online, log on to the authoring tool, have the content right there and make whatever changes they want," Brian Napack, president of Macmillan, told the Times. "And we don’t even look at it."

Careers as a professor are one of the areas of education that are not hurting as a result of the national budget crisis. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it is estimated that there will be a 15% increase for professor positions by 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19646806-ADNFCR
