Considered to be one of the more rewarding professions by many, teaching is one of the most sought-after careers for adults. As one of the top 10 desired college majors, education is a popular career choice. Unfortunately, education budgets are not what they used to be due to the recession, causing many teachers to lose their jobs or take pay cuts. Additionally, many individuals are not able to find teaching jobs as school districts enact hiring freezes.

Florida governor Charlie Crist recently announced a proposed budget of $22.7 billion to go towards K-12 education, which could hopefully lead to the creation of more jobs in the state. Over the next four years, the governor plans to invest more than $1.1 billion into plans to increase the work force.

Individuals who already have a career in teaching may also benefit from the bonus proposal that is included in the budget plan. Teachers could receive bonuses for high test scores, certification of excellence in teaching and school recognition programs.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average teacher in America earns $51,180 in annual salary.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19579883-ADNFCR
