Considered to be one of the most sought-after careers in the country, education jobs continue to be a hot commodity in a shrinking field. Ranging anywhere from elementary education to special needs studies, teaching continues to be one of the careers that many people look to be involved in. Some feel that providing a public service like education can be rewarding.

While headlines of a failing system have affected teaching jobs across the country, some believe that fixing the current state of education begins with bringing in qualified teachers, according to the New York Times.

The news provider reports that those who are interested in a career in education should consider looking into taking leadership courses, as they may be a more effective way to run the classroom.

"If you are going to be an effective leader, particularly in urban districts, you will need different skills than [education] schools have traditionally offered," Robert B. Schwartz, academic dean of the Harvard education told the news provider. "You need to be leading large-scale change, overseeing operations."

Those interested in a career in education may want to pursue the public school sector, as Teaching.org reports that only 10 percent of the professionals work in private schools.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19538846-ADNFCR
