A Wisconsin law school opened its doors this week in Milwaukee, in a building that college officials have said "changed the face of legal education" within the city. The new center at Marquette University took two years to complete and cost a total of $85 million. Law school alums Ray and Kay Eckstein, whom the new development was named after, contributed $1 million towards its construction, according to ABC affiliate WISN. The 200,000 square foot facility is the largest of its kind in the country, and is home to a variety of state-of-the-art amenities. Eckstein Hall includes trial and appellate courtrooms, an open-air library accessible from all floors, innovative visual equipment, a restaurant and gym featuring a variety of fitness classes taught by law students. "(You can) have lunch, have a business meeting and a place where students can come if they want to meet at a bar," Peter Prigge, a second-year student at Marquette, told the news provider. The university offers programs focused on health care, intellectual property, sports and labor and employment law, which are taught by highly-accomplished professors. |
