Counselors can help people cope with trauma
People can often have difficulty dealing with tragedy, and counselors must be called upon to help communities heal and move on from traumatic events.

Two suicides in Springdale, Utah, in less than 10 days have scarred the small town and local business owner Larry McKown has suggested the town have some kind of counseling to help people cope, according to the The Spectrum & Daily News.

"We are bringing down two counselors through the Southwest Mental Health Center to talk to people about coping with their losses and the unexpected deaths," Wright said.

Because the community has a large transient population made of young adults who often do not have family in the canyon but come back year after year for seasonal work, Rebecca McKown, of Flanigan's Inn suggests people take advantage of the counseling for support.

Mental health counselors work with individuals, families and groups to address and treat mental and emotional disorders and to promote mental health, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Bureau said there were 100,000 mental health counselors employed in 2006 and that number should rise by 30% by 2016.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19237287-ADNFCR
