One of the qualifications that comes with the territory of a career in psychology is knowing how to read people's emotions. Some psychologists are trained to study how a person is feeling and what that could possibly relate to in their subconscious. Because of this skill, psychologists are sought out by other individuals to help get a better read on people.

Researcher David Wilkins is using psychology in order to become better trained to recognize people's facial emotions, according to Stanford.edu. Wilkins will be studying with the help of methods developed by psychologists as well as drawing techniques that are used by artists. The goal is to determine how recognizing emotions is part of a normal function.

"In everyday life, the average individual with autism has less than a 50 percent chance of knowing if your expression is happy or sad or angry," Wilkins said. "If you don't recognize universal emotions, any type of interpersonal interaction is really hindered."

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in psychology are expected to grow up to 12% by 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19690305-ADNFCR
