Many people are pursuing careers in technology because the industry is supposed to have a fairly high hiring rate for the foreseeable future. Technology continues to be an integral force in various fields of business, as software and devices continue to change with the newest innovations. Because of this growing field, businesses must stay on top of the newest inventions to ensure they're set with the highest operations. In an effort to help military veterans find technology careers upon the completion of their service, Microsoft will begin offering technology training to service members and their spouses. The company will contribute $2 million in cash and $6 million in software over the next two years. The Elevate America's Veterans Initiative has gotten support from a number of government officials, who praise the effort for helping to prepare service members for a career path. "I salute Microsoft's plan to help our nation's veterans successfully transition from military service to civilian careers. The men and women who have served in uniform make excellent employees, and I believe this effort will go a long way to helping them succeed in the 21st century work force," said Hawaiian Senator Daniel K. Akaka. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, technology careers are expected to increase by 17% by 2018. |
