Iowa University to Offer Degree in E-Marketing

As computers become more integrated into the business world, one Iowa university is now offering students a chance to put something a little different on their resumes - a degree in electronic marketing.

Ashford University has announced the introduction of its bachelor of arts program in eMarketing, which is available to students at its Clinton campus, as well as online.

The program was designed to provide a background in market theory and practice with incorporates social media marketing strategies.

Executive dean of the college's business school Dr. Michael Reilly said students who are computer savvy with a degree in social media will be able to work in a number of industries.

"At the degree's core is a strong foundation of general business courses, ensuring students are prepared to support the marketing demands of a variety of organizations," Reilly stated.

Reilly said the degree will be an effective way of balancing the old and new by combining web-age media with mainstream strategies in the digital age.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job opportunities for professionals in social media are expected to grow faster than other occupations through 2018.
