Some industries are recovering faster than others as the economy struggles to find its footing. However, the information technology (IT) sector, is one of few that is coming out strong.

According to a study published by TechServe Alliance, a group of IT service firms, clients and consultants, the number of IT jobs grew by 9,700 in July.

IT employment increased by more than 63,000 jobs since January, according to the study, and the number of IT jobs created in July was about 1% higher than last year.

“Despite a generally anemic employment environment, IT employment continues to show strength. With July’s growth, IT employment has increased in each of the last seven months,” said Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance. “While IT employment would not be immune should the recovery derail, at present we remain very bullish on continued growth in the sector for the foreseeable future.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the IT sector is expected to continue to grow by 17% through 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19924476-ADNFCR
