General Dynamics Creating 100 New Technology Jobs

The information technology (IT) industry is rapidly growing, thanks to new innovations and a swiftly recovering economy. Many people who are looking for a career change are heading over to the IT sector to be part of a growing and rapidly evolving industry.

General Dynamics Information Technology’s ViPS, a part of the company’s Health IT Solutions segment, recently announced that it is adding more than 100 new technology jobs in Baltimore County, Maryland after it was awarded multiple contracts with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The contracts include an $80.3 million award to support HHS’s Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (EERP). Currently, ViPs employs more than 600 workers in Baltimore County.

“Information technology will play an instrumental role in implementing health care reform,” said Art Lehrer, vice president and general manager of Health IT Solutions. “ERRP is one of the first major initiatives assigned to HHS under the new legislation.”

With the new contract, General Dynamics IT Health Solutions will be responsible for software design, development and business application support.
