The recession has caused a number of Americans to lose their jobs. Although every demographic appears to be hurting career-wise, men are the group with the highest instance of losing their jobs. Because of this, many women have had to return to the workforce in order to provide a steady income for their families.

According to a study by researchers at UMass Boston, women entering the workforce may want to look into green jobs as a means of employment, according to the Boston Herald. Because there is a large energy efficiency movement that the government is backing, green jobs are one of the few that are doing well in terms of hiring.

Although a large portion of the Recovery Act is aimed toward male-dominated fields such as solar panel installation, women may want to apply for jobs in the industry as well, as government funding is keeping the employment rate steady in the field.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers for environmental specialists and scientists are expected to increase by 28% by the year 2018.ADNFCR-1502-ID-19667581-ADNFCR
