When individuals decide it is time to move on to a new challenge, they can often be uncertain or even a little nervous about their employer finding out - but as long as they stay professional and positive, there should be nothing to worry about.

According to Indystar.com, people should always respect their current employer when they are looking for another position.

That means ensuring their job search does not encroach on company time or their ability to do their current work.

Acting professionally is likely to make their current boss more accommodating and, Sonda Sorg of staffing and consulting specialist Robert Half International said, most companies are prepared to work around your interview schedule.

Communication is also key - and may even resolve the issue that was pushing someone toward the exit door, she added. For example, if an individual feels limited or unchallenged in their role, they should discuss it with their supervisor, who may be able to find them more challenging role.

For those sure they want to move on, joining a professional body or networking organization can help to increase their visibility and generate new contacts, she noted.
